Josh, here is the article on the Poway teacher. http://www.northcountytimes.com/articles/2008/09/09/news/inland/poway/zf11ce138687746c8882574bf005cab2c.txt

This was posted from a reader and I thought I would share with everyone just how important it is to respond to the question.

After a few years of reading the alternate exams, I returned to the “regular” reading this year as the Question Leader (with Cathy Griffin) on the “fiscal/monetary policy” question. Some of the best responses we read were 1/2 page long. We also read some long (multi-page) and sophisticated descriptions of what “the Fed” does, but the question never asked for that. It called for an explanation of why the Fed would be made independent. In short, if the student does not address what the question asks, there is no chance of scoring any points. If they address the question, they may score point(s) regardless of form. (I still recall awarding 1 point to a response which was in the form of a haiku.)

StudentCam 2009

About The Competition

WHAT IS “C-SPAN StudentCam”?
C-SPAN StudentCam is an annual documentary competition that encourages students to think seriously about issues that affect our communities and our nation.

StudentCam is open to all middle school students (grades 6-8) and high school students (grades 9-12) as individuals, or teams of students. Teams are limited to 3 students. Videos must be the original work of students, however, teachers may provide guidance and critiques.

This Year’s StudentCam Topic:

A message to the new President:

What is the most urgent issue for the new president to address after taking office, and why?

Students are asked to create a short (between 5 and 8 minutes) video documentary that explores an issue of national significance that they believe is in need of urgent attention from the new president of the United States.

Your documentary should include more than one point of view. YOU MUST USE C-SPAN PROGRAMMING TO ENHANCE YOUR DOCUMENTARY. Videos that do not use C-SPAN programming will be disqualified.

AP Scores

Hello all.  I hope everyone is having a great summer.  If anyone is still checking the site.  I would appreciate it if you would send me your AP score.

AP Test

The AP Test is just around the corner.  It is the first test during the two week schedule.  It is imperative that you come to Tuesday and Thursday’s review session.  I will score you and will help determine where you might score come time for the real test.  It is very important that you start reviewing the information by using the resources linked here like your textbook resource and hippocampus.  If you have not read on the institutions, I would highly recommend that you do so.  The Congress, Presidency, and Court compose of 45% of the AP test.  I would also review the chapter on American political behavior.  I would not reread all of the textbook but those chapters should be reread again.
